Matt Fields, owner of Becoming Him: Legacy Build

From the Diamond to Fatherhood

For 12 years, I lived and breathed professional baseball—six years with the Tampa Bay Rays, four with the Kansas City Royals, and two more in the independent leagues. Baseball wasn't just what I did—it was who I was.

When that identity ended, I didn't know how to process it. I became a police officer, trained at three fire academies, and kept searching for the next thing that would make me feel whole. But the truth is, I was running from the real work—the internal rebuild I desperately needed.

Then everything changed on September 13, 2021, when my son Cruz was born. Becoming a father forced me to confront the man I was versus the man I needed to become. I had walked through depression, divorce, and moments so dark I didn't think I'd make it. But Cruz gave me a reason to stop running and start rebuilding—not for performance, not for approval, but for legacy.

That's why Becoming Him: Legacy Build exists.

I'm not here as a guru or someone who has it all figured out. I'm here as a man who's walked the path—who knows what it's like to lose your identity, carry weight in silence, and wonder if you'll ever feel whole again.

This work is personal. It's about helping men rebuild from the inside out, so they can lead their families with integrity, discipline, and presence. It's about breaking generational cycles and creating legacies worth passing down.

If you're ready to stop pretending you're fine and start doing the real work—I'm here for it.
